If you notice any of the following symptoms, you should make an appointment.
Missing certain sounds
You can hear boomy sounds well, like a dog barking down the street, but have trouble hearing high-pitched sounds like birds, the car blinker, the phone, and doorbell.
Finding it hard to hear in background noise
You have trouble following conversation when in groups or in a noisy environment like a café, restaurant, or pub
Needing repeats
You often ask people to repeat themselves as you didn’t quite catch everything they said.
Needing an increase in volume
You often turn up the television or radio to your preferred volume, but others might tell you to turn it down as it is too loud.
Often relying on lip-reading and/or visual cues
You often find yourself relying partially or almost fully on visual cues like lip-reading and facial cues to fill in gaps during conversation and understand content of speech, and experience significant difficulty without direct visual access to a speaker’s face
