HOYA MiYOSMART iQ

HOYA MiYOSMART iQ is HOYA’s latest generation myopia control spectacle lens, representing the next evolution of the trusted MiYOSMART platform. Built on the proven D.I.M.S. (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments) Technology, MiYOSMART iQ features an advanced Triple Enhanced Design that elevates both myopia management and visual performance for children.

As HOYA’s most advanced myopia control solution to date, MiYOSMART iQ is designed to provide children with clear, comfortable vision while helping to slow myopia progression during the crucial years of eye development.

Understanding childhood myopia

Myopia, commonly known as short-sightedness, occurs when the eye grows too long from front to back. This causes distant objects to appear blurry while close-up objects remain clear.

Children with myopia may:

  • Squint to see objects in the distance
  • Sit closer to screens or televisions
  • Struggle to see the classroom whiteboard
  • Experience frequent prescription changes
  • Complain of headaches or eye strain

Research shows that myopia is becoming increasingly common worldwide, making early detection and management more important than ever. The earlier myopia develops, the more likely it is to progress to higher levels later in life. This can increase the risk of serious eye conditions in adulthood, including retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts and myopic macular degeneration.

That’s why modern myopia management focuses on slowing progression rather than simply correcting vision.

What is HOYA MiYOSMART iQ?

MiYOSMART iQ is a next-generation myopia control spectacle lens developed by HOYA. It builds on the proven success of MiYOSMART technology and incorporates an enhanced lens design aimed at providing stronger myopia management outcomes for children.

These lenses feature two key zones:

  • A central zone that provides clear, sharp vision
  • A surrounding treatment area designed to create myopic defocus, which helps signal the eye to slow excessive growth associated with myopia progression

Because they look and feel similar to standard glasses, children can wear them comfortably during everyday activities including school, sports and screen use.

What’s new with HOYA MiYOSMART iQ?

The latest generation design has been developed to deliver:

  • Enhanced optical quality
  • Clear and comfortable vision in all directions
  • Improved lens aesthetics
  • Outstanding visual performance for active, growing children
  • Proven myopia management technology backed by clinical research

How does MiYOSMART iQ work?

MiYOSMART iQ uses HOYA’s advanced D.I.M.S. Technology with a Triple Enhanced Design. This innovative approach places specially engineered treatment segments within the lens to provide continuous myopia control signals while maintaining clear vision.

The design aims to:

  • Deliver clear vision across everyday tasks
  • Stimulate areas of the retina involved in eye growth regulation
  • Increase the effectiveness of myopia management compared with earlier designs
  • Support long-term eye health by helping reduce the progression of myopia

Why choose HOYA MiYOSMART for children?

MiYOSMART lenses are a safe, easy to use, effective and non-invasive method to manage myopia, and slow its progression, in children

  • Unique, innovative evidence-based solution for controlling myopia.
  • Clinically proven effectiveness in slowing down myopia progression.
  • Child-friendly, non-invasive and easy to use.

In addition to correcting myopic refractive error, a two-year clinical trial shows that MiYOSMART lenses with D.I.M.S. (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments) technology work by slowing down myopia progression on average by 60% and halt myopia progression by 21.5%, going a long way toward protecting your child’s vision and wellbeing in the long-term.

By slowing down the progression of myopia and its associated eyesight deterioration, children can have improved vision and more enjoyable lives.

MiYOSMART iQ Chameleon

MiYOSMART iQ Chameleon combines HOYA’s advanced myopia management technology with photochromic lenses that automatically adapt to changing light conditions. The lenses remain clear indoors and darken when exposed to sunlight, helping children maintain comfortable vision both inside and outside.

This makes MiYOSMART iQ Chameleon an ideal option for active children who move frequently between classrooms, screens, sport and outdoor activities.

Unlike traditional prescription sunglasses, MiYOSMART iQ Chameleon lenses automatically respond to UV exposure, darkening in bright outdoor conditions and quickly fading back to clear when children return indoors. This means clear vision in the classroom and greater comfort during outdoor play, sports and family activities without needing to switch between multiple pairs of glasses.

Research conducted as part of HOYA Vision Care’s Early Experience Program found high levels of wearer satisfaction, with children adapting quickly to the photochromic lenses and reporting comfortable vision during both indoor and outdoor activities. The study also found that children wore the lenses for extended periods throughout the day, which may help support consistent myopia management outcomes.
