HOYA MiYOSMART

Nothing is more important than the health and well-being of your child. Now and in the future, you want to see your child thrive. But you may have noticed your child struggling to see clearly at a distance, making it harder for them to concentrate at school and enjoy sports. Your child may have myopia, also known as near-sightedness. If left untreated in children, it can lead to lasting vision problems.

What is myopia?

When the eyeball grows quickly and becomes too long, or the cornea is too curved, images that should focus on the retina focus in front of it instead, resulting in blurred distance vision.

The incidence of myopia is expected to increase significantly as lifestyles change*, with children taking part in more near-work activities such as using digital devices, studying, reading, and spending less time outdoors. Hereditary, behavioural, and environmental factors also play a part.

Myopia is a growing problem and global concern.

An estimated 5 billion people, or half of the global population, could be affected by short-sightedness by 2050.

Research shows that more time spent on near-work activities is associated with a greater likelihood of myopia.*

Why choose MiYOSMART for children?

MiYOSMART lenses are a safe, easy to use, effective and non-invasive method to manage myopia, and slow its progression, in children

  • Unique, innovative evidence-based solution for controlling myopia.
  • Clinically proven effectiveness in slowing down myopia progression.
  • Child-friendly, non-invasive and easy to use.

In addition to correcting myopic refractive error, a two-year clinical trial shows that MiYOSMART lenses with D.I.M.S. (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments) technology work by slowing down myopia progression on average by 60% and halt myopia progression by 21.5%, going a long way toward protecting your child’s vision and wellbeing in the long-term.

By slowing down the progression of myopia and its associated eyesight deterioration, children can have improved vision and more enjoyable lives.

How does MiYOSMART work?

Cutting edge research conducted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University showed that myopia progression can be controlled by providing clear vision and constant myopic defocus simultaneously.

The D.I.M.S. technology in MiYOSMART was clinically proven to succeed in the control of myopia progression, and in 2018, it won the prestigious Grand Prize, Grand Award, and Special Gold Medal at the 46th International Exhibitions of Inventions of Geneva, Switzerland.

What is D.I.M.S. Technology?

  • A non-invasive solution that corrects short-sightedness while effectively slowing down myopia progression by 59% at the same time.
  • Slows axial eye growth by 60%.
  • Halts myopia progression by 21.5%.
  • Impact resistant lens material that keeps active kids safe.
  • Provides UV protection.

MiYOSMART Sun

Myopic children who wear spectacle lenses need a solution that will slow myopia progression, as well as protecting them from harmful UV rays and intense sunlight MiYOSMART sun.

MiYOSMART Coating STX

HOYA Vision Care is revolutionising the coating by introducing Smooth Touch Xtreme technology. Now available on MiYOSMART myopia lenses, this breakthrough offers long-lasting hydrophobic performance that keeps lenses cleaner for longer by effectively repelling water, fingerprints, dirt, and grease.^

The result is a clearer vision that lasts even after 2.7 years of typical use, empowering kids with the confidence to live, play, and grow without limits.**

^ Simulating years of spectacle lens care without loss of cleanability. Spectacle lenses with STX hydrophobic performance technology stay clearer and require less cleaning, allowing children to spend active time outdoors.

** Based on the hypothesis of 8 wipes/day (cleaning twice a day with 4 wipes per cleaning session) and internal HOYA testing method showing that after 8000 wipes, water contact angle degradation vs its initial value is maintained <2°.
